2025 MCAC Men's Basketball All Division and All Conference
The Minnesota College Athletic Conference (MCAC) men's basketball coaches have selected the 2024-25 MCAC North and South All-Division teams, the All-MCAC team, the All-Defensive team, division coaches-of-the-year, and division players-of-the-year. The 14-member All-Division teams were selected by the head coaches of each division, and the top seven vote-getters from each division were named to the All-MCAC team. Coaches from each division also selected five athletes to be named to the All-Defensive team.
Jaiquavious Ackey, sophomore forward for Central Lakes College, was chosen as this season's MCAC North Player-of-the-Year. Ackey started 21 of the Raiders' 22 games and scored 389 points this season, averaging 17.7 points per game. He shot 61.3% from the field (168-274) and 36.4% (12-33) from the three-point arc. Ackey pulled down 208 rebounds, averaging 9.5 rebounds per game, and he had 41 steals and 49 assists on the season. He also had 10 blocks. In MCAC North action, Ackey ranked third in the division in rebounds per game and fifth in steals. Under Ackey's stellar play, the Raiders put together a 19-9 overall record and 11-1 North Division record. Central Lakes claimed the MCAC North Division title and the #1 seed from the North in this weekend's NJCAA Region 13 Tournament.
Jim Russell, the head men's basketball coach at Central Lakes College, was named the MCAC North Coach-of-the-Year. Russell led the Raiders to the MCAC North Division title, compiling a 19-9 overall record and an 11-1 record in the MCAC North this season. Central Lakes College will enter the NJCAA Region 13 Men's Basketball Tournament this weekend as the #1 seed from the North, and the team will play Rochester Community and Technical College in the quarterfinal round on Friday.
Foday Sheriff, sophomore forward for Minnesota State Community and Technical College, was selected as the MCAC South Player-of-the-Year. In 28 games this season, Sheriff averaged 21.2 points per game and shot 58.1% from the field, 38.0% from behind the arc, and 72.9% from the free throw line. He scored 593 points, blocked 219 balls, dished out 120 assists, stole 50 balls, and grabbed 288 rebounds this season. He led the MCAC South Division in points, points per game, field goal percentage, and defensive rebounds, and was second in total rebounds. Sheriff helped his Spartans claim the MCAC South Division title with their 11-1 division record and 26-2 overall record. The Spartans are currently ranked #4 in the NJCAA DIII Men's Basketball poll. M State is the #1 seed from the MCAC South in this weekend's NJCAA Region 13 Men's Basketball Tournament.
David Cresap, the head men's basketball coach at Minnesota State Community & Technical College, was named the MCAC South Division Coach-of-the-Year. Cresap led his Spartans' team to an 26-2 overall record and an 11-1 record in the MCAC South, claiming the MCAC South title. The Spartans are ranked #4 in the latest NJCAA DIII Men's Basketball poll, and Cresap will take his team to the NJCAA Region 13 Tournament as the #1 seed from the MCAC South. On Friday, the Spartans will take on Minnesota North College-Mesabi Range in the quarterfinal round.
